Geography at Castle Hill
The Geography Curriculum at Castle Hill Primary School is designed to help develop pupils’ curiosity and fascination about the world that they live in and the people that live around them. Our Geography Curriculum will equip pupils with knowledge about diverse places, people, resources and natural and human environments. Pupils will develop a deep understanding of the Earth’s key physical and human processes.
Pupils will develop the following fundamental characteristics to enable them to become successful geographers:
- A good knowledge and understanding of where places are and what they are like, both locally, nationally and globally.
- A wide base of geographical knowledge and vocabulary
- Fluency in complex, geographical enquiry and the ability to apply questioning and reasoning skills
- Fieldwork skills
- An ability to interpret a range of sources of geographical information through exposure to maps, diagrams, globes, aerial photographs, digital maps and Geographical Information Systems
- The ability to communicate geographical information in a variety of ways. Through their communication, pupils will be able to reach clear conclusions and explain findings.
- An understanding that we all have a responsibility to look after the world around us
