Castle Hill Primary

Castle Hill Primary

Girls Football Team

In April, we had an incredible opportunity to work alongside Chelsea FC and the Premier League to create our very own girls football team at Castle Hill! 14 girls were selected across Year 4, 5 and 6 to represent our school. Find out even more here: https://www.premierleague.com/news/3231916

On the morning of 20th April, our girls took part in an empowerment workshop with Sam Mardle from Chelsea FC learning all about women in football, diversity, role models and being ambitious in life!

Whilst the team were taking part in this amazing workshop in the ark, the rest of the school came down to the field in classes, all the way from Castle Tots to Year 6, to have their photo taken with the Premier League trophy - yes, the real one!

After their workshop had finished, they were surprised with their very own kit which was given to them by Premier League Primary Stars and Nike, and it was then that they found out they were now our very own girls football team! The girls got changed into their kit, took some photos and went out to the field to play some team games together.

After lunch, the team jumped on a mini bus to Cobham Training Grounds. Here, the girls played more games on one of the football pitches and took part in some interviews with Sky Sport News and Premier League. The final surprise of the day was getting to meet Jess Carter and Ann-Katrin Berger from the Chelsea FC women's team and each being given two tickets to the Chelsea VS Barcelona game at Stamford Bridge on 22nd April. What an amazing day and experience for our new girls team! In the summer term, we are hoping the team will get the chance to play football tournaments against local schools and get the opportunity to receive coaching from Chelsea FC!

Off to Cobham Training Grounds!
