Castle Hill Primary

Physical Education

At Castle Hill, we want to ensure the well-being of the whole school and ensure we promote an understanding of the importance of pupils’ physical well-being whilst promoting healthy lifestyles. We intend for our Physical Education to develop our pupils’ understanding of what it takes to establish a long-lasting healthy lifestyle. We provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way, which supports their health and fitness.

We have worked hard to be able to offer the children a variety of PE experiences, and we are fortunate enough to have indoor and outdoor space for our lessons, including a large field. In addition to this, we run a variety of after school clubs either with our school staff or external providers. These include, but not limited to:

- Netball

- Dance

- Football

- Tennis

- Rounders

- Volleyball

- Yoga

- Lazerlions

At Castle Hill, we regularly join other schools to compete in a variety of competitions and festivals, available to all children. These include, but not limited to, football, netball, swimming, cross country, golf, badminton, new age kurling and basketball. We work in a very close partnership with Chelsea FC too. We have weekly class based and PE based sessions with them, including a playground leader programme, diversity workshops, PE support, magazine team, and many more.

We are also proud to have achieved the School Games Silver Award for the school year 24/25.

How you can support your child at home:

  • Encourage daily movement through active play and outdoor time

  • Limit screen time to make room for physical activity

  • Model an active lifestyle by being active as a family

  • Practice skills learned in PE class at home

  • Go on family walks, bike rides, or play garden games together

  • Celebrate effort and improvement over performance

  • Create a positive and supportive environment around physical activity

  • Remind your child that being active is about fun, health, and doing their best
